Tuesday, May 30, 2017  At 21:21 the Milton Fire Department was dispatched to North Front Street in the Borough for an odor of something burning in a multi family residence. Chief 1501 arrived to find a strong odor of something burning in a bedroom in the upstairs apartment. Engine 15-1 arrived secured a water supply and stretched a dry line to the second floor while the officer began scanning the residence with his TIC. With nothing definite being found and the odor not dissipating, command requested an additional engine and truck to the scene. Truck 15-1 arrived next and set up on the "A" side while its crew assisted in searching the building with its TIC. Truck 2-1 arrived and set up on the "C" side while Engine 9-1 stood by at a hydrant 2 blocks away. Units eventually narrowed down the cause of the odor as a faulty ceiling fan. Units responding and on scene: Chief 1501(Stump), 1502(Lupo), 1503 (Derr) Engine 15-1 and 9-1 (Warrior Run) Truck 15-1 and Truck 2-1 (Lewisburg), MICU 15, Company 15 Fire Poilice, and the Milton PD.




Tuesday, May 30, 2017  At 18:00 the Chief staff attended a "town hall" style meeting with the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay at Union Township Fire Company's social hall in Winfield. The commissioner shared with those in attendance a summary of what him and his staff have been busy doing and also took questions from the crowd. We would like to thank Representative Lynda Culver and Representative Fred Keller for organizing the meeting and to Union Township Fire Company for hosting the meeting.




Wednesday, May 24, 2017  At 05:29 the Milton Fire Department was dispatched to the 2300 block of State Route 254 in Turbot Township for a single vehicle auto accident. Chief 1501 arrived to find a pickup truck off the roadway that had sheared off a utility pole with wires down. Rescue 15-1 arrived and assisted MICU 15 with patient packaging and controlled vehicle hazards. Traffic 15 and CO 15 fire police provided traffic control while units operated on scene. Tuesday, May 23, 2017  Tuesday the Milton Fire Department took the opportunity to meet with representatives from Weis Warehouse. Crews toured the facility focusing on the recent expansion projects. Photos by Jay Mabus.




Saturday, May 20, 2017  Saturday eleven members traveled to the CAFCA training grounds in Williamsport to complete their Firefighter 2 practical skills stations. We are happy to report all 11 members passed all stations of the practical portion of the test today. The members now await the results of the written test that was taken Thursday May 18th. These members have spent countless hours away from their families preparing for this certification all for the betterment of The Milton Fire Department. Congratulations to Chief Joe Stump, Deputy Chief Joe Lupo, Assistant Chief Scott Derr, Captain Butch Whitenight, Lieutenant Rich Neilson, Lieutenant Seth Heddings, Firefighters Dakota Bearce, Mike Brown, Cindie Lytle, Matt Trapane, and Keith Yaiko on this remarkable accomplishment.




Friday, May 19, 2017  At 15:26 The 15 HOUSE was dispatched to SR 405 in the area of the South Gate Plaza for a motorcycle accident. Chief 1503 arrived on scene with Engine 15-2 to find one patient in the roadway. Crews assisted MICU 15 with patient care and packaging. Friday, May 19, 2017  At 23:07 the Milton Fire Department was dispatched to Milton Village for a possible apartment fire. Milton PD was in the complex for a police matter and heard a smoke detector activating and then saw flames visible in a window. Prior to fire personal arriving, a neighbor used a fire extinguisher to put out curtains that had caught fire due to close proximity of an unattended candle. Truck 15-1 arrived and utilized a thermal imaging camera to check for extension. Positive pressure ventilation was utilized to clear the smoke conditions. Thursday, May 18, 2017  At 10:46 the Milton Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of South Arch and Center Streets for a two vehicle auto accident. PD was first dispatched for a non injury crash. PD arrived and requested EMS for a minor injury. PD then requested the rescue for fluids and debris on the roadway. Rescue 15-1 responded and took care of any hazards. CO 15 fire police provided traffic control. Photos by Jay Mabus.




Saturday, May 6, 2017  At 23:51 The 15 House was dispatched to the Race Street Sunoco for a reported fuel spill. Company 15 units arrived to find approximately 15 to 20 gallons of gas on the ground. Rescue 15-1 arrived and put down pads and absorbent to contain the spill. Apparently the driver was in the store and the gas pump never shut off. The driver then came out of the store and left the scene never notifying the store of the spill. Northumberland County EMA was notified and Company 15 units went available at 00:28 hours.




Friday, May 5, 2017  While crews where at the middle school for a presentation the Milton Fire Department was dispatched to Carr Ave. for wires down and a transformer on fire. Chief 1501 along with Engine 15-1 responded. The Chief and Engine stood by until PPL arrived and then returned available. Photos by Jay Mabus.
