MUTUAL AID BARN FIRE

     

Monday, January 2, 2012 At 22:06 Hrs. Company 15 was dispatched to its first call of the New Year along with Pottsgrove (CO12) for a reported working fire on Creek Road in West Chillisquaque Township. Once Pottsgrove's chiefs responded, Union County 911 advised them that it was a fully involved barn. Command 12 than requested third alarm tankers be dispatched. As crews arrived there was an exposure on the C side that became involved. Engine 15-2 responded with 6 and was the second piece on the scene and went to work deploying their preconnected step gun, 2 1/2" bomb line, and a 400' 2" smooth bore line. Engine 12-1 also deployed their Blitz Fire and some hand lines. After about 15 minutes from arriving on the scene the main barn collapsed into the lower levels of the structure. Crews worked for a couple of hours until a trachoe arrived to assist in overhaul operations. Apparatus on the scene and at fill sites: Engines 12-1, 15-2, 5-1 (White Deer Twp.), 17-1 (Turbot Twp.), 2-2 (Lewisburg), Tankers 12-1, 9-1 (Warrior Run), 17-1, 2-1, 5-1, Rescues 15-1, 2-1 along with engines and tankers from Montour County. Company 15 remained on the scene for about 4 hours.
