Sunday, December 25, 2011 On Christmas day at 21:30 Hrs. Company 15 was dispatched to the 100 block of Sodom Road for a reported vehicle accident with unknown injuries. Chief 1503 (Shaffer) arrived minutes later to find one car on its roof with the driver trapped inside. Rescue and Engine 15 responded together and was advised by command the driver was entrapped. Units arrived and stabilized the vehicle and prepared to start the extrication. The Rescue crew removed the passenger door, the B and C post and removed the driver via the back window area. Due to the patient going in and out of consciousness command requested Life Flight to the scene. Engine 15-2 left the accident scene to go set up a landing zone for the chopper. The total extrication took about 15-20 minutes. The vehicle involved left the road, rolled several times, and struck a telephone pole before coming to rest on its roof. Units remained on the scene for an hour and a half.
