At 21:50 Hrs. Company 15 was dispatched to 25 Poplar Ave. in the borough for a reported kitchen fire. Union County 911 dispatched a working fire box from the start due to the information they received. This brings the second alarm units on the initial dispatch. Fire Police Capt. (Mabus) arrived and reported smoke showing with fire visible in the rear. Engine 15-2 and Truck 15-1 arrived at the same time and went to work. Engine 15-2 laid in from down the block, stretched a 200' 2” smooth bore, and made a quick knock on the fire. Truck 15-1 took care of a primary search finding two dogs and started ventilation for the engine crew. The fire was contained to the kitchen with no major extension. Crews from Warrior Run, White Deer Twp., and Lewisburg assisted on the scene and with some overhaul. Rescue 3-1 from Mifflinburg stood by as RIT. Turbot Township (CO17) also assisted. Company 15 remained on the scene for two hours.
