At 21:25 Hrs. this date The 15 House along with Co.2 Lewisburg were dispatched to West Chillisquaque Twp. Rt. 405 North of heartline for an mva with entrapment and fire. Rescue 15-1 responded in minutes and was advised they had 1 car into a tree with heavy entrapment. Rescue 15-1 arrived and went to work utilizing their Hurst tools, two O-cutters, spreaders & combination tool. Crews removed the B post and doors on the passenger side to make entry to the passenger while crews where doing the same to make entry on the driver’s side. Crews were told to stop working on the driver side because the driver was deceased. Crews waited until PSP Milton and the Northumberland County coroners arrived to do their investigation. Once they where done with the investigation crews went back to work. Crews finished taking the B post and the doors on the driver’s side to extricate the deceased person. Eng. 15-1 handled the landing zone while Eng. 2-2 assisted Rescue 15-1 with the extrication. Units on the scene: Rescue 15-1, Eng.’s 15-1, 2-2, 2-3, Lewisburg Ambulance Co, Evangelical Community Hospital Paramedics, Northumberland Co Micu 545 (Sunbury), Life Flight, PSP Milton, Lewisburg Police, Milton Police, East Buffalo Twp Police & Milton Fire Police. Crews remained on the scene approx./ 2.5hrs.

At 13:15 Hrs. this date The 15 House was dispatched to Interstate 80 mile marker 213 westbound for a reported tractor trailer accident with an active fuel leak. Chief 1503 (Goodbrod) was first to arrive and found two tractor trailers and two cars pulled off to the side of the road. Apparently the first truck hit some debris in the roadway and cut his fuel tanks open and shredded his front tire. The other truck and cars behind the first truck also hit the debris and got flat tires and small leaks. Rescue 15-1 arrived and immediately started to control and contain the leak. Due to the severity of the leak and the amount, Northridge Hazardous Materials Team was called. Company 15 units remained on the scene for little over an hour. Units on scene: Rescue 15-1, Utility/Hazmat 15-1, Chief 1503, Engine 17-1 (Turbot Twp.), Milton Fire Police, PSP, and Northridge.

On this date at 14:34 Hrs. The 15 House was dispatched for mutual aid with White Deer Twp. (Co.5) for a working house fire. Chief 1501 (Shaffer) was the first to arrive and had heavy fire through the roof. Engine 2-2 (Lewisburg) and Engine 15-1 were the first engines to arrive. Chief 1501 advised the first engine to hit the fire with their deck gun. Chief 501 (Baker) arrived and took command. The crew from Engine 15-1 assisted Engine 2-2 with fire suppression. Engine 5-1 took the hydrant at the end of the road to fill tankers. Other units then assisted with overhaul. Units remained on the scene for about three hours. Units on scene: Engines 2-2, 15-1, 5-1, Tankers 15-1, 2-1, 5-1, 9-1, and Rescue 5-1.

On this date at 07:50 Hrs. The 15 House was dispatched for mutual aid with Warrior Run (Co9) for a well-involved garage fire in the borough of Turbotville. Chief 901 (Burrows) arrived on the scene to find a small fire in the eves of the garage and not a well involved structure. Rescue 15-1 arrived with other second alarm units and assisted with overhaul. Units remained on the scene for about one hour.

At 17:30 this date The 15 House was dispatched to Interstate 80 mile marker 212 east bound for a vehicle accident involving two tractor trailers with injury and entrapment. Rescue 15-1 responded and was advised by UCES that PSP was on the scene confirming entrapment. Once the rescue arrived we found that one tractor trailer had rear-ended another with the driver heavily trapped. Captain 1506 (Stump) took command while the rescue crew went to work. The crew pulled off multiple hydraulic tools, reciprocating saws, and an extra Hurst power unit. The crew worked at making entry from multiple points on the truck. Engines 15-1 and 17-1 arrived a took care of the landing zone and fluid leaks from the truck. Due to the severity of entrapment command called for an additional rescue. During the extrication the Life Flight nurses along with EMS pronounced the patient deceased. Once the scene became fatal, all extrication attempts got put on hold until the investigation was completed. The driver of the other truck was uninjured. Units remained on the scene for about three hours. Units on Scene: Rescue15-1, Engine15-1, Engine 17-1, Rescue 9-1 (Warrior Run Area), Milton and Warrior Run EMS, PSP, Milton Fire Police, and Life Flight.

On the weekend of Aug. 22nd the Central District Volunteer Fireman’s Association held its annual convention in Mifflin PA. Ray Rugh along with other 15 House members attended this event. On Friday, while Ray was attending one of the meetings the association presented Mr. Rugh the Honorary Past President Award. Congratulations Ray.

At 03:06 on this date the 15 House was dispatched to Interstate 80 eastbound at mile marker 213 for a tractor-trailer overturned with an active fuel leak. Chief 1051 arrived to find one truck into the guiderail with the tractor on its side leaking diesel fuel and the driver out walking around uninjured. Rescue 15-1 arrived a short time later and started to work on controlling the leak and any other hazards. Units remained on the scene for about two hours. Units on scene: Rescue 15-1, Chief 1501, Engine 17-1, Milton Fire Police, and Minute Man Towing.

At 11:21hrs The 15 House was dispatched as part of a 2nd alarm assignment on a house fire in East Buffalo Twp. Rescue 15-1 arrived and immediately went to work assisting Co.2 and Co. 3 personnel with defensive operations. Rescue 15-1 sent the crew to the rear of the structure with a 2" attack line and a 1.5" attack line and began fire suspression and overhaul operations. Units on the scene: Rescue's 15-1, 3-1 Engine's 2-3 Lewisburg, 3-2 Mifflinburg, 4-1 New Berlin, 6-1 Winfield. At 0230hrs this date Rescue 15-1 was dispatched along with Co.12 Pottsgrove to East Chillisquaque Twp. Rt.642 for an MVA with unknown injuries. Rescue 15-1 with Lt. Campbell responded and arrived on scene to find one ford bronco in to a utility pole that had been sheared off. Rescue 15-1 handled vehicle hazards and assisted the Amb with Pt care. Units on the scene Rescue 15-1, Co.12, Amb 16-1, Evangelical Community Hospital Paramedics, Milton Fire Police, Milton State Police. Units remained on the scene approx. / 1hr

At 23:27 The 15 House was dispatched along with Co 2 (Lewisburg) for a mobile home fire with possible entrapment at Modern Way Trailer Court in the Village of Montandon. Chief 1501 (Shaffer) was the first to arrive, and confirmed a working fire. Chief 202 arrived next and took command. Engine 15-1 arrived right behind Engine 2-2 and immediately went to work. Half the crew from Engine 15-1 pulled the second line off Engine 2-2 while the other half started a primary search. After the search was completed it was confirmed that there was no entrapment. Rescues 15-1, 2-1, and 5-1 ( White Deer Twp.) arrived and later helped with overhaul. Crews remained on the scene for about two hours. Units on the scene: Engines 2-2, 15-1, Rescues 2-1, 15-1, 5-1, Tankers 2-1, 15-1, Lewisburg EMS, Medic 60, Chiefs 202, 1501, 1502, American Red Cross, and Milton Fire Police.

On this date Truck 15-1 was called to the Borough of Lewisburg to assist the Game Commission and Lewisburg PD with a black bear. Once the Truck arrived, they set up and went to work. The crew went into the tree just above the bear and scared it down to the ground where the Game Commission caught it. This bear had quite an adventure throughout the day as it made its way down the main street prior to finding a tree just behind Lewisburg's firehouse. Truck 15-1 was on the scene for about 35 Min.

On this date the 15 House was dispatched to Arch and Center streets in the borough for an MVA with injuries. Rescue 15-1 arrived and stabilized the vehicle and assisted EMS with patient care. The crew from the Engine checked the vehicles for hazards. Both Patients only had minor injuries. Crews remained on the scene for about 30 Min.

At 03:54 this date THE 15 House was dispatched to Interstate 80 west bound at mile marker 214 for a tractor trailer overturned. Chief 1501 (Shaffer) responded and arrived on the scene a short time later to find one tractor trailer on its side and leaking diesel fuel. The crew from Rescue 15-1 assisted EMS and started to work on controlling the leak. The driver of the truck had only minor injuries. Crews remanded on the scene for about 30 minutes until the wrecker service arrived. Units on the scene: Rescue 15-1, Engine 15-2, Engine 17-1 (Turbot Twp.), Milton Ambulance, and Milton Fire Police.

On this date an engine from the 15 House was dispatched to the Borough of Lewisburg at the Campus Theater for an odor of something burning. While enroute command advised the communications center that they had a water problem in the basement. The engine was than placed in service by command 2 (Lewisburg). About 45 minutes later Truck 15-1 and the Utility were dispatched to the same location for ventilation and portable pumps. Once the Truck and Utility arrived on the scene and were working, it was discovered that there was a small fire in the basement. Half of the truck assisted Lewisburg's engine crew with the fire while the other half checked for extension. The Truck crew had a moderate smoke condition in the attic area with no fire and began ventilation. Apparently the basement filled up with about 4 feet of water and than the electrical panel on the wall caught on fire. The Truck remained on the scene for about 3 hours. Units on the scene: Company 2(Lewisburg), Truck and Utility 15-1, Engine 5-2 (White Deer Twp.) Rescue 3-1 (Mifflinburg), Milton Fire Police.

On this date the 15 HOUSE was dispatched to Broadway News in the borough for a building fire. Chief 1501 (Shaffer) responded and was on the scene minutes later with no visible fire. Apparently a cigarette came in contact with the siding and began to smolder. Upon arrival of the engine, a Milton Police officer dumped a jug of water on the smoldering hot spot. The engine crew checked for extension and any remaining hot spots and was available about 15 minutes later. Units on scene: Eng. 15-2, Chief 1501, Milton PD, and Milton Fire Police.
